I watched the first two episodes last season and thought it was corny and boring. I don't think I have the attention span to get into hour long dramas, almost every time I try to watch one that's supposed to be really good I end up not liking it. Breaking Bad, The Wire, X-Files, that's pretty much it.

I didn't really get into it until the 4th episode, but it grows on you.
Yeah, it took me 4 or 5 episodes to really get into it. For me, anyway, that's when everything sort of clicked, and I suddenly had a decent understanding of who everybody is, what they want, and their relationships to one another, even if I still don't know everybody's name.
Once that happened, I've been completely hooked.
It's a legitimate criticism that an attentive viewer shouldn't have to get through 4-5 hours of the show before they even have a good understanding of what the hell is going on. That's asking a lot of an audience. But the fact that they were able to take a story with so many moving parts, and even make it possible for a viewer to keep track of so many plot threads, demonstrates just how well-constructed the show is.
I watched the whole first season at once, so it was easy to get addicted quickly. I'm really digging the show. I have the books on my shelf waiting to be read (eventually, when I have the time) for more of the back story as well.
