I think it was the funniest one of this half-season.

Really, any episode that focuses on Randy Marsh is the best of the season.

I have heard about it, but I know nothing about it. Is it going to be an extended Broadway version of the South Park episode making fun of Mormon (dum-dum-dum-dum-dumb...)?

It apparently has nothing to do with South Park. The story is about a kid on his mission, or something like that. But I love everything musical they've done and I love that mormon episode, so it sounds great.
