Basically, 2 judges took over $2 million in kickbacks from a juvenile detention facility which gets state funds on a per-inmate basis.
The owners of the detention facility paid the judges to sentence teenagers to time there, when they would ordinarily have gotten a slap on the wrist.
18 U.S.C. § 242 provides for the death penalty when a violation of a constitutional right committed under color of law involves, among other things, kidnapping. It's a bit of a stretch, but I wouldn't mind if someone tried to have it applied to these pieces of crap.
Or if a prosecutor wanted to get even more creative, he could have tried 18 U.S.C. § 1584 which makes the sale of any person into involuntary servitude punishable by life in prison.
If those guys get any prison time, they had better do something to get themselves solitary confinement on the first day, otherwise they will be murdered.
