I like plenty. For instance, How I Met Your Mother is a good show. South Park and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are also good shows.
Big Bang Theory is a hollow show with one-dimensional characters who appease the initiated geek crowd and baffle and impress the uninitiated common view with some talk of academia and scientific theory. Look beyond that (the only thing that makes the show unique) and you will find a hackneyed sitcom with uninteresting characters.
Okay, well let me put it this way: BBT is a sitcom that lacks interesting situations and laughter (outside the laugh track). It's like they researched the history of sitcoms, then forced the most popular situations to fit their mold of science geek academics, albeit with much less success.
HIMYM is a successful ensemble cast. Barney is one-dimensional because he is a shallow person.
South Park is full of one-dimensional characters put in situations that create biting satire. South Park is not a sitcom.
i'll agree that south park's plots are nothing but satire; however, it is, by definition, a sitcom. it is not a sitcom in the common sense of the word since the situations are wildly fantastic, but it is still a situational comedy.
bbt's plots and characters are unique even though the balance of the roles of characters within the circle of friends is contrived (much like the laugh track). that is to say that this is not the first time there has been a show featuring two roommates who have two loser friends and a hot neighbor.
