The SFPD officers who shot and killed a tiger that had gotten loose at the SF Zoo about a year ago (and had already killed someone by the time they got there) are being awarded with medals of valor tonight at City Hall.
I never really doubted that their actions were completely justified, and after reading their accounts of the event, I'm convinced that they did the right thing.
Read the comments for a good laugh: "OMG THEY KILLED A BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL SHE WAS JUST HUNGRY AND THEY SHOULD HAVE SACRIFICED THEMSELVES (OR AT LEAST THEIR LIMBS) TO FEED HER!"
Of course, it sucks that a beautiful animal had to die because of the actions of some stupid kids, but that doesn't change the fact that it had to die.
