I was just let go from one of my part time jobs, and it wasn't anything that I did wrong or that they didn't need me - they needed me and I did great work, it's just that the company has been failing for the last six months and the economic downturn has just made things worse. It's going to be hell to find another part time job now.
Also - I thought companies were supposed to let people go on Friday's to ruin their weekends (or to let people cool down so they don't come back and shoot up the place, though I guess I'm not the "will come back and cap yo' ass type). Now my week is ruined.

I did my tasks well and above my assigned duty and there was no one else to let go - I worked directly for the regional sales manager and the west coast head of operations. The only people under them were the branch managers and each branch manager has two customer service reps under them. The company can function without me, but not without the branch managers and the customers service reps. To keep the customer service reps the branch managers had to cut back on power usage such as heating, cooling, and lights. The company can't afford to pay rent at the majority of their locations. The company is going down and I was the first sacrifice they made to try and salvage themselves.
So when you don't know what you're talking about Slash, please don't talk.

Also - how was my week saved when I can no longer afford to pay rent? That just makes no sense. And looking for a job in this economy is going to be hell. I would still say that my week was ruined. I don't like sitting at home filling out applications or sending off resumes instead of being paid.

And she couln't have been doing that great, as if she had, they would have let someone else go who was not doing great work.
And I'd say when the sales manager is in tears over letting you go and repeatedly stating that they would be a great refrence and to call them if you need anything that I was doing a fine job and that they did feel that they needed me, just that they couldn't afford me.

my local news told me that chicks are less susceptible to downsizing
i lost interest and switched it to jeopardy! before they could explain, but it's plausible to infer that such is the case as a result of chicks making 70¢ on the dollar for the same job a man works
I made a decent amount there, but when the parent company invests and loses 9 mil in a company and every branch they open unable to pay their own rent someone has to go. I find it ironic that the sales manager that does nothing all day was the one that let me go, considering he gets paid the big bucks and doesn't actually DO anything (I used to do most of his work for him, guess he'll have to work now).
