you will find much disagreement concerning the steadfastness of this rule in the case that the noun is an: abbreviation, acronym, number, range of numbers, year, range of years, or symbol. abbreviations and acronyms are especially pesky since some will argue that an apostrophe is needed when the plural abbreviation or acronym could be misconstrued as a separate entity sans apostrophe. just be consistent in these scenarios.
