My mom has Chiari, which can be passed along genetically (yay...not), and is having brain surgery on Thursday. They're going to put a cow membrane in her head to keep her brain from slipping down her neck. It's a lot to deal with and I felt like venting.

My mom's has slipped about 11mm over the past few years. They thought it was just migraines before Kaiser finally allowed her to get an MRI. You don't actually see any deformation from what happens, you just become uncoordinated and loopy every now and then. I always thought it was the drugs she was on, which is still probably was sometimes, but I guess it was this sometimes too, or a combo of both.

Sucks for me. I took an unpaid day off of work (I make roughly 90 a day after taxes) to go to the hospital tomorrow and my mom just called and said she'd be in surgery for four hours then transfered to the ICU and couldn't see visitors until Friday or Saturday. There goes my 90 bucks...

I just sat with my Grandma all day in the hospital and crocheted a scarf. We got to see her for a few minutes and she's doing alright.
