What books do you recommend (picture edition)?

Someone gave me a gift card to borders and I want to use it. Most of the authors I like to read are available in my local library so I don't want to spend money on those, or a random book that looks good that might suck. So I'm looking for something good, that doesn't suck, that you can post a picture of so I can verify the title and look some reviews up.

Not the kind Mathsex posted. I like science fiction, fantasy, history, biography, classic literature, mythology, folklore, etc. I'm willing to really go for anything as long as it's not horror (I find most horror books are plain old stupid and horrible, no insult intended) or what mathsex posted.

Robert Heinlein, yo.  MOst novels by him are excellent in the sci-fic department.

Yes.

Read Starship Troopers.

Just don't let it turn you into a Fascist.

Atlas Shrugged is good. There's also a mass published version so you can get it for $6-7.

The BF has all his books. I've read a few, but I don't need to buy them since he has 'em all.

Have you read Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury)? 1984 (George Orwell)? Contact (Carl Sagan)?

Those are all excellent reads.

I've read all those. Assume I've read the classics and go for the more obscure. Plus I can check out classics from the library.
