So, I got a $1000 bonus this month, and I was thinking about buying either a bouzouki or an octave mandolin. I don't know if you have any opinions on the subject, but if anyone on the board does, I like to hear. If anyone plays either, or has played either, tell me what you think. Either one should run me about $500-$800, due to the fact that not many people are buying these instruments and they don't make cheap ones.
Conversely, I could save the money for something, but what fun would that be?
Get a mandolin and be like the guy I saw in Amsterdam who played MDC songs on his mandolin while businessmen wrapped their ties around their heads and moshed in the street.
If I had a voice like Tiny Tim, I would. Sadly, I am a baritone of robust timbre.I can, on occasion pass as a tenor II, but Tiny Tim is a counter-tenor.
