Did you read the book? Because this isn't the book. If I saw this trailer with no knowledge that it was Palahniuk's choke, I probably wouldn't know it was based on the book.

Well, as the trailer indicated, it was written by the same guy that wrote Fight Club. I think Fight Club, while lacking much of a positive message, is a fantastic movie and book. All of Palahniuk's books, or most of them, feature self-destructive individuals at a crossroads. He sets a certain dark, yet humorous tone. This seems to be just another comedy, with actors that look and sound nothing like the characters.

Looked pretty dark to me. This could also be one of those times they misrepresent the full movie in the trailer because they think it'll get more people to watch it.

I've seen scenes, and it just doesn't represent anything I thought the book was going to be.

Of course, to someone who hasn't read it, you really wouldn't care. But to me, it looks awful, and like a typical comedy about sex.

I wouldn't take anything from Palahnuik's works. It's fun to indulge in fanciful romps in the land of misanthropy, but I have no desire to bring home any souvenirs. There is nothing of merit in his art philosophically; they ought to be taken only as art, as a sort of interesting dadaist literature.

Yes, I find little value in a lot of my favorite authors; Palahniuk, Dostoevsky, Nietzsche. But ya know, at least the last two try to amplify the individual to some point. I think I like Palahniuk simply for the interesting characters and morbidly hilarious plots.

Yes. College started, and there is apparently a lot more reading Sophomore year, so the time between 3 and 6AM is used to read text books and assigned ****ty literature instead of reading leisurely.

Well, the sex aspect was a pretty huge aspect of the book

Well of course, but I'm saying it's looking like another hollywood movie about sex, rather than a well directed and produced Palahniuk adaptation.

Fight Club was a good movie. It was a good translation. It didn't follow everything in the book, and I don't think a movie should, but it captured what the book was about.

I was upset when I found out fincher wasn't directing, instant downgrade. He does wonderful camera/lighting work, as apparent in fight club and seven.

This just doesn't seem good at all. It is too much of a comedy.
