I just got back from voting. I held my nose, and ended up voting for Obama.

I voted for Republican candidate for Congress, even though no Republican in this district has a snowball's chance in Hell of winning.

I wasn't happy voting for any candidate. There were a few ballot measures I was proud to vote against, such as the same-sex marriage ban, and the the attempted government takeover of the city's power system.

Yeah, there are no ballot measures in New York, my congressional district's election is a joke and I don't want my first vote for President to be for Obama, who I think I would have to vote for if the option were forced.

I voted against it, because I think laws against prostitution should be repealed, rather than remaining on the books and going unenforced.

Also, there are very real concerns that, if this passes, that child prostitution and human trafficking would become more of a problem. San Francisco/Oakland is already a major hub for human trafficking, as many ships from Asia come into the Port of Oakland. This proposition has no exception for child prostitution or women who have been smuggled into the country, and are now working as prostitutes against their will.

Of course, say the proponents of the law, the police will still be able to investigate such things. However, if the police units responsible for those investigations are completely de-funded, I'm not sure how they expect it to happen.

I would accept nothing less than true legalization of prostitution between consenting adults, with strong laws meant to protect the individual rights of children, and women (and some men, probably) who have been defrauded or coerced into prostitution.

bah, if speech were meant to be free, it would have been included in the constitution without needing an amendment. america worked fine for those three years between the ratification of the constitution and the ratification of the bill of rights.
