that is a picture of a small portion of the universe, as it was 13 billion years ago. from urf, this region of the sky only spans 1/10th of the diameter of the full moon. since it is so wee (and dim), the image you see is a compilation of 800 exposures through the hubble space telescope. makes me proud to pay taxes.

It's a photo of an untethered spacewalk, where an astronaut went outside the space shuttle without a line physically connecting him to the shuttle. He (I think it was 'he') was using an experimental booster pack that could move him around out there, but still ... that takes a lot of balls.
