Slash told me about that since it's gotten so expensive to check bags on airlines, FedEx has a new deal where they will let you ship anything under 70 lbs for $12..
But I cannot find anything about it on their website.

Has anyone heard anything like this?

I'm pretty sure that's a lie. I would imagine FedEx would advertise this if it were true.
