I think being able to emancipate yourself is a pretty good way to prove that you're competent enough to make your own decisions. I think you can do that at like 15-16
I don't think a fifteen-year-old should be branded a sex criminal for having sex with a fourteen-year-old. I'd like that kind of flexible written into the law, allowing proximity in age between consenting partners exclude them from conviction. If they say they consent, then they consented. That is, unless you can prove manipulation or deceit.
I would find it hard to convict an 18 year old of sleeping with a 17 year old, especially since I've done such things and don't consider myself a child molester.
Oh, there are plenty of sex criminals in my city, just not in my immediate neighborhood.
I think the age of consent should be low and flexible.
EDIT: By low, I mean something like 14 or 13, not 5.

In most states, it's very flexible. In the majority of states, adolescents as young as 13 or 14 can consent to sex, provided that the partner is close to the same age (usually a 3 year age difference is allowed).
