Yes, I'd say a long season...I guess 2 episodes would have to be dedicated to the speech.
I think it would be cool to somehow feature parts of it throughout the series or something. Rescue Me normally does a couple minute outro with music and unfolding dramatic events, that could be done with slices of the speech.
Of course, that would be cool but I doubt this will ever be created as another form of art and I am in no way anxious to see it be transformed.
I think it would be phenomenally popular if it were well-done. Isn't it one of the most widely-read books... ever?
According to a 199? study by the Library of Congress, it was ranked number 2 in influential books behind the bible in America.
Of course, that seems VERY odd given the opposite messages of those 2 books, and the obvious acceptance America have of the bible and the rejection of " radical " philosophies for something centered and moderate.
I think it would be popular, though, and it could certainly be adapted for cable because I don't think there is a single dirty word in there. Lots of rough sex, though.
I would rather it be done by HBO or another premium channel since they have the capital to invest in such an ambitious project and have had considerable success with mini series.
The good thing about TV series is you don't have to hire big stars to get good ratings, so the whole " Russel Crowe as Ragnar " debate wouldn't have to happen.
