I just ordered after reading a blog review of it. It sounds pretty well-cited, but I don't know if I'll get to reading it until October.

Anyone who claims to be able to explain consciousness is lying to you. At best they can give you one of many plausible theories and make their best case for that theory.

 That's bull****.  If something exists, it's possible to explain it.

Anyway, it's more of just interesting reading.  I know Dennett's overall epistemological views, and I do not agree with them completely.

Consciousness, presumably, is fully explainable.  However, no one is close to explaining it.

I think it's fair to say that he doesn't have a very positive view of humanity. But the way he goes about showing it has a lot of wit to it for me.

PIGGIE: I'm sorry, but I probably won't read that long essay on Hume's theory of causation for a while. I read enough metaphysics as it is these days. I really need my pleasure reading to pleasure me.
