^^ Well, Reynolds comes across as something of a music snob to me, but he does have a real enthusiasm for the material which helps you realise how exciting and important it must have seemed, and he's good at placing the music in its wider historical context. The book is very long and in-depth so I won't be finished with it for a while, might post some more thoughts then.
