I watched The Hobbit last night. To be fair, I didn't like the Lord of the Rings movies so I knew I wasn't going to like this BUT holy shitsnacks that was agonizing. They literally spend the first 45 minutes-1 hour of the movie at Bilbo's house DOING NOTHING. It keeps going on and on and on, and the narrative still gone anywhere. "OH, I'M BILBO, I'M A BIG PUSSY, I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THE SHIRE. THESE DWARVES SURE ARE A NUISANCE." REPEAT ENDLESSLY.
By the time they leave the house I was so bored I couldn't even give a fuck about what happened after that, but they still managed to pad the movie with more bullshit that had nothing to do with anything. It's rare that a bad movie actually makes me angry, but seriously fuck The Hobbit up its hairy butthole. I GIVE IT NO STARS. DON'T WATCH IT EVER EVER EVER, YOU FILTHY JACKALS.

That's actually the bit that pisses me off the most. The Lord of The Rings movies were able to do a pretty good job of turning each novel into a single movie. I read The Hobbit a very long time ago, but I remember it being a much slighter story than any of the LOTR books. The fact that they're stretching that book into three films is mind-boggling.
I didn't bother with the movie, but you're definitely not the first person who's said that it's loaded with boring filler.
I think I was in 4th grade when I read the book. My dumb girlfriend wanted to watch it because she read the book recently and was proud of herself for managing to finish a book, which she never does.
And yeah, them turning it into a trilogy is absurdity. The dwarves have TWO ENTIRE SONGS before they even leave Bilbo's house. REALLY? THIS IS WHY WE "NEED" THREE MOVIES? SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO CUT OUT QUALITY STUFF LIKE THIS? FUCK YOU.
