Them britches!

That was a strange episode.

I almost feel like it would have worked as a series finale.

Well that was a bummer of an episode. I wonder what exactly this means for the show, I'm guessing they're going to address all this stuff when the season starts up again, otherwise it would be pretty pointless.

The saddest part of this episode was how much I was able to relate to Stan. I constantly imagine trailers for awful movies in that stupid "DERP!" voice.

Jim Carrey in "Whatever, you'll pay for it, **** you."

This is the first episode of South Park that has left me feeling ****ing depressed. What a ****ing awful way to end this half season

In a way, this was one of the best episodes they've ever done.

Those last few minutes - starting with the fight between Randy and Sharon - were way more poignant than this show has any business being.

Way more nuanced than Cartman farting out fire cause there were aliens probing him...The whole episode was poignant though.

Just watched this again. Didn't notice Kyle and Cartman sitting on the couch and then smiling at each other. Holy ****, they're genuine friends now? WHAT ARE YOU DOING, SOUTH PARK?

The show is on its way out.

There was speculation that this was a surprise series finale. Matt and Trey are on contract through 2013, so that's unlikely. But, with The Book of Mormon occupying most of their time, they only have one week to work on each episode. In a way, that's helped this season. It's kept the episodes snappy, with far more funny gags, as opposed to preachy monologues. They don't suffer from grand ambition that ends up falling flat.

At the same time, that type of production schedule must be exhausting.

In interviews, they've both expressed fatigue with the show, and eagerness to focus on other projects. I have a feeling that the show has one more season in it, tops.

But, who knows. Maybe when the show comes back, Mr. Hankey will appear and deliver a speech that's something to the effect of "Just because I'm a piece of ****, doesn't mean I still can't make you smile!" and everything will be back to normal.

I've actually liked the past two seasons for the most part, but I'm not blind, it's obvious the overall quality of the show has gone down. It's quite clear they're burnt out on doing this, and that's what I admired so much about this last episode. I don't think I've ever seen any show that was so honest about itself, and pulled it off in such a beautiful way that was both about the process of making the show, and still based in the characters.

I don't know how much life this show has in it. I'm sure they'll finish out this season, I suspect they'll go until their current contract order expires, but who knows? I don't think in the long run that all that much will change, but I hope after this they'll be more willing to experiment with new things, and make deliberate attempts to let the show and it's characters evolve a bit more.

I was cracking up until the last 5 minutes. It felt like all of a sudden they were calling themselves shitty.

It was pretty depressing. I hope the remaining episodes go crazy and make thoughtful changes. Kyle and Cartmen becoming actual friends was weird. Maybe by the next half of the season all the boys will have turned 10 and instead of becoming cynical they grow up a little.

It reminded me of myself, sadly. Most movies suck, most music sucks, most tv shows suck. It really did feel like the writers or at least Matt and Trey were speaking directly through Sharon and Randy. Especially when Sharon was talking about the Randy sub plot rehashes.

Speaking of comedy shows that take a turn towards the depressing. Has anyone watched the ending of Moral Orel? Feels bad man. Out of nowhere they destroy you.

I HAVE MORIS! I HAVE! I know exactly what you're talking about, the third season is probably the most depressing thing with puppets that's ever been made.

I miss that show. Great writing and animation, too bad they cancelled it.

Any TV show that ends with "Landslide" is going to be depressing.

If the Book of Mormon is any kind of predictor, I'd like to see Matt and Trey working on other stuff.

I didn't like it and by accident saw the season 2 finale. It made me go back and watch the first two seasons, I was a bit let down that it wasn't as dark. But damn season 3 is angst and depression animated. If South Park goes that route it could be great.
