Did anybody ever watch Gumby? It's awful. It's like the worst kids show, worse all those crappy Hannah-Barbera cartoons, Scooby Doo, Johnny Quest, Wondertwins, Herculoids, that I liked as I kid, and then I rewatch them now and they're boring as shit and I'm embarrassed to have ever liked them. Gumby's the biggest turd of them all.

I tend to avoid re-watching childhood favorites as an adult. It ruins the nostalgia of the shows when you realize what shitty tastes you had as a child.

I'm living with my 4 year old God Child now and she's into all kinds of horrible cartoons. Seriously, toddler cartoons are THE WORST. She actually put Barney on the other night. UGH! If I ever procreate I'm not letting my child watch cartoons until they're old enough to appreciate South Park.

I've figured I want to give my kid(s) the best start in life and would just get rid of the TV all together. It'd be making my job as a parent a lot harder but it'd be worth it to have a kid that's NOT into retarded cartoons and actually prefers reading to watching TV. I wish my parents would have let me do that with my sister. She's lazy as hell and watches an average of 5 hours of TV A DAY. And she eats nothing but junk food that she's seen on ads on TV. It hasn't made her chubby yet - she's lucky, but still, she's headed no where in life.

I've actually thought about what cartoons I would not just allow, but FORCE my children to watch. Numerous times. It's so sad.
I changed my mind. That isn't sad at all. What is sad is that these sucky kids shows have FANS. People my age, people OLDER than me that actually think these shows are good. People make websites dedicated to Gumby. There are people on the imdb page for Gumby that can tell you every dumbass episode of Gumby. That's sad.
