Upcoming music thread

HI MY NAME IS PIZZA AND I'M A MUSIC NERD. What albums are coming out that you're looking forward to?

Jay Stay Paid - J Dilla - June 2
Farm - Dinosaur Jr., June 23
Cuban Linx II - Raekwon - August 11 (WU-TANG!)

Big Boi of OutKast and Tortoise are supposed to release albums this year too. I'll pick those up.

I tried to listen to Dinosaur Jr but all the stuff I could find on them was low quality and I can't stand listening to bad quality files.

I can't think of too much. Pop punk bands produce albums like every month.

I am actually somewhat looking forward to this album. I wouldn't have been about 2 months ago, not knowing much about the man (Rest In Peace) then, but now I am.
Pizza, what do you make of recent post-Dilla stuff like Flying Lotus?

I'll have a think about any upcoming releases I''m excited about in a minute. Wiley has a new album coming soon, but the word is that like most of his full-length ones, it has a few good tracks and a bunch of mediocre ones. He's really a mix-tape and single artist I guess.

Him specifically, or producers who are similar? I really liked Los Angeles, but that's about all I've heard from him. I can definitely see similarities between him and Dilla though.

Isn't Dizzee Rascal coming out with an album this year? I heard the two singles from it... I'm not really sure if I like them or not.

Also, Clipse - Till The Casket Drops. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back though.

new rock sucks, new metal sucks, adult contemporary blows goats, punk was destroyed by epitaph, hip-hop hasn't been good since the mid-90s, pop hasn't been good since the 70s, with exception of some catchy tunes from the 80s, and country will always suck

Wiley - Race Against Time is out on Monday, and apparently is in fact excellent. I'll believe it when I hear it though. Skepta - Microphone Champion just came out but supposedly is mostly rubbish.

Well FL is probably the producer I'm most familiar with, and certainly one of the ones I rate the highest. It took me a while to get used to those stuttery, stumbling sort of beats that he uses, but there's def something beautiful to his music, as well as a weird, surreal sort of humour. I like 1983 his first album too, but yeah LA is probably the better one.
There's a whole lot of that sort of style about though, most of which I haven't got my head round properly yet. There's Samiyam who I don't really rate tbh, then there's people like Dabrye and Lukid who seem ok but I haven't heard enough to properly judge. Also have to bring up the Glasgow connection with people like Rustie and Huson Mohawke, though they're quite influcened by other things like crunk as well as Dilla style hip-hop. Genuinely excellent and highly-rated though, not just me being parochial.

I think Dizzee's new stuff is rubbish really, not even been paying much attention to when the album's coming.

Ehhh, it was alright, but prob not quite as good as Showtime and definitely way below Boy in da Corner.

Edit: I hate to sound like one of those 'he was better when he was underground/nobody had heard of him/he didn't do pop etc etc' types, but that doews seem to be how it works with him, sadly.
