I said that a heterosexual man being attracted to a homosexual woman is farther off than a 21-year-old man being attracted to a 17-year-old girl. Honestly, if she were a few months older, would this just not be a problem? I'm not saying it's admirable for 21-year-olds to pursue 17-year-olds, but I am saying we should not be so surprised to hear that 21-year-olds are attracted to 17-year-olds.

Not going to throw around accusations of homophobia, but I honestly don't see where you're coming from on this one Jason. I've been attracted to lesbians plenty of times, and so have lots of other men I know. If a woman's attractive, then they're attractive, sexual orientation doesn't affect it.

Jesus Christ, no. More impact than the very slight age difference between 21 and 17. I'm not saying it's wrong to be attracted to lesbians, either. What I'm saying is that IF some social norm is going to make you feel gross about being attracted to your 17-year-old cousin's girlfriend, then I would think her incompatible sexual orientation would have more weight than her age.
Honestly, I'm making a very, very small conditional claim here. I don't think Piggie ought to feel repulsed about anything in this situation. I merely said that if something makes him feel strange about his attraction to this girl, I think it would make more sense that she is utterly uninterested in men, rather than what amounts to a very small difference in age.
I think the heat in this debate arises from a very public hatred for pedophilia (justified), coupled with an arbitrary age limit to what constitutes a "child" in legal terms (18, not-so-justified). Compare this with a very public acceptance of heterosexual men pursuing homosexual woman (there is a lot of lesbian porn out there, and most of it is not made for lesbians). Somewhere in the middle we find the affective equipment responsible for whatever is going on in this thread.
I cannot emphasize this enough: I do not think Piggie should be repulsed by homosexual behavior, whether between males or females. What I am saying is that he should not feel repulsed by his attraction to a 17-year-old girl, for a variety of reasons. My brief and greatly misunderstood aside was that IF (this is an incredibly important word) he is to feel that his attraction is unacceptable, I would think it would be more unjustifiable because the girl is not a heterosexual, rather than that the girl is a few months below the legal age of consent and Piggie is a few years above that age (they are more or less in the same age group).
Personally, I don't think attraction is something that needs to be justified -- only behavior should be judged. Attraction is neither right nor wrong; it just is. I appreciate that you all have a keen eye and a low tolerance for homophobic behavior, but there truly is none of that in this thread.
