EgoTist. Anyway, it is egotistical because it is basically in honor of him. THere is a difference between having a good self esteem and ego and declaring the day you're inaugurated a holiday.

I suppose he was much more up front with his stuff. But this is clearly something Obama needs to do for his ego. Why do you think it is being held on HIS inauguration date?

Because that was the first day he actually had the authority to do it? Because it was a day of transition and celebration? What day would you have preferred?

THere was no need to do it. It's obviously in tribute to him. Most presidents don't get in and make a big celebration of it.

Every president has had an inauguration ceremony. This one was especially large and well publicized (because he's an exceptionally popular president), but it's not like this is coming out of the blue.

I maintain that this holiday was an attempt to get the focus OFF of the individual and onto the collective, which is ultimately what he seems to want.

getting a half-negro elected to the white house isn't as astonishing as people make it out to be, since all he had to do was: not be old, not be a retard, and say some magic words. americans would rather have a homosexual, god-fearing president than a secular, cancer-curing, soup kitchen-volunteering president

edit: but they got lucky this time, as they elected a god-fearing law professor who isn't a homosexual (or at least open about it)
