The governor of Illinois has been arrested. He is entitled by law to appoint an interim replacement for vacant senate seats. In this case, he was filling the seat vacated by Obama.

Apparently, he tried to sell his appointment. Good going.

Chicago seems more and more like Gotham everyday...Basically, I guess the criminals run the town?

The last 2 Batman movies were filmed in Chicago.

So, at least under current canon, Chicago looks exactly like Gotham.

Well, I meant more than aesthetically.

I thought that is what Gotham was based on? NYC/Chicago?

Yeah, there are a lot of common elements between those cities and Gotham.

However, some maps show Gotham and Metropolis sitting on opposite sides of a large bay. Perhaps, at least in the relevant storyline, they were drawing on SF and Oakland?

Probably not.

This thread is now about Batman, and, to a lesser extent, the greater D.C. universe.

I just associate Chicago more with organized crime, like Capone and all that. Batman started shortly after that whole mess, and while it has elements of both cities, the "atmosphere" seems more Chicago to me.

Chicago is such a beautiful city, too. It's sad that it is inhabited with so many horrible people.

Mostly referring to the city government, not the average person on the street (though they can be pretty obnoxious, sometimes)

I was going to go watch the Dark Knight at the IMAX theatre on Saturday but then decided that the less time I spend in Sydney the better.
