Also for people that don't watch the News, NYC was under terror alert today in the subways. I actually didn't hear about the Mumbai stuff before that and thought it was stupid, but after hearing that it's kind of scary.
There was a foiled attack on Penn Station that was found out by the FBI. It never got beyond planning stages -- I think they said it was "plausible but not substantial". I guess just to be safe they increased security on the subways.
That **** in Mumbai is nuts, though. Do they still not know who did it and why?
I haven't seen anything. Lots of names fly around the first couple days of this sick ****.
The good, or fortunate news is that they say the attack could have been much worse. They say they might have attacked an EU meeting or some **** and taken as many hostages as possible.
They're saying the weapons were unconventional for terrorists. Instead of suicide bombs and things like that, they had military weaponry, grenades and all that.
It's not that uncommon for terrorists to take on paramilitary tactics. In fact, that would seem to be the norm. Suicide terrorism might be the preferred tactic of Al Qaida, but it shouldn't be seen as definitive of terrorism. The fact that this wasn't a suicide bombing makes me skeptical that this was Al Qaida. But then again, I have no idea why another group would be targeting Westerners. I really want to know who this was.
Yeah, that is what I meant. It does not seem to be the usual suspects. Supposedly 100 people were involved in this. If it was 100 suicide bombers, the death toll would be much higher.
It seems they were trying to do something more substantial than just kill people. They were asking specifically for anyone with American or British passports.
The news media keep dropping the name "Al Qaida" but those mother****ers don't take hostages. If I had to guess I'd say it's some kind of disgruntled Indian group that laments the Westernization of their culture and country.
